Open-source platform will connect young job seekers with employment opportunities across diverse global contexts.

Tabiya has been awarded a grant by the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation (PJMF) to develop Horizon, an AI-powered job matching system designed to connect young job seekers with employment opportunities while ensuring transparency and fairness in artificial intelligence applications.

The open-source platform will expand Tabiya’s existing job matching technology to serve diverse global contexts, with particular focus on young people historically excluded from traditional employment pathways in low- and middle-income countries.

“We are immensely grateful to have been granted PJMF funding,” expressed Tabiya CEO Christian Meyer. “This will advance our work in skills recognition and job matching, creating more efficient and equitable labor markets for all young people globally.”

Unlike traditional AI systems that operate as “black boxes,” Horizon uses structured transparency measures to ensure users understand why specific opportunities are recommended. The platform will be available for integration into existing employment platforms or deployment as a standalone system.

Tabiya projects the system will improve job placement quality by 20%, potentially helping tens of millions of young job seekers worldwide find better employment opportunities while reducing costs for organizations serving this population.

“The future of work must be built on systems that recognize human potential in all forms, not just through traditional credentials,” said Vilas Dhar, President of the Patrick J. McGovern Foundation. “Tabiya’s development of transparent, AI-powered systems that bridge skilled individuals with their next opportunity represents thoughtfully designed technology that addresses inequities at their root. Our partnership with Tabiya exemplifies our vision for just, inclusive systems that transform individual lives.”
